Upon completion of ongoing projects the CEW often produced reports, academic articles, and research documents. These publications are available to aid in further research. Please download these as needed.

Staff of the CEW have been actively involved in project development and delivery of a number of collaborative projects in prior learning assessment and program development.

2006

  • PLAR:  Workers in Transition

2000-2001

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
The aircraft industry has a shortage of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. This project is targeted at providing prior learning assessment routes for individuals with experience in the military, international credentials, or industry-based training.

Articulating Workplace Education
In order to consider themselves as appropriate candidates for prior learning assessment, adult learners need to self-assess against the outcomes of courses and programs.

CTTAM
In November 2000, the Manitoba Government approved funding for a prior learning assessment project designed by an accrediting body (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba), industry partners (Manitoba Hydro and Bristol Aerospace) and a community-based educational centre (Centre for Education and Work).

Building Capacity for Literacy Research
The Centre for Education and Work (CEW) has received project and financial support from the National Literacy Secretariat for the research, development and design of Phase One for the development of a framework, process and implementation plan for research in literacy in Manitoba.

Restorative Justice: Best-Practices in Distance Assessment
The Centre for Education and Work (CEW) has received project funding from MKO to study assessment concepts in a distance context.

Facilitator Guide
The CEW has received project funding from HRDC to develop and disseminate curriculum for adult learner classroom teaching that includes essential skill profiles. A multimedia CD-ROM is in development to distribute and inform practitioners on how to implement the new curriculum.
