The Centre for Education
and Work (CEW) was incorporated as a Board-governed not-for-profit
organization under The Corporations Act of Manitoba in
March 2001. The CEW is mandated to research, design and
develop initiatives that connect adult learners to the
education system; increase the linkages between the workplace
and post-secondary education; and facilitate the development
of adult learner friendly and focused institutions.
The Centre for Education and Work is entirely project
based. Projects include industry partners, government
departments, accrediting bodies, educational providers,
and community partners. All projects have a focus on integrating
progressive educational and prior learning assessment
strategies toward a goal of better understanding and meeting
labour market need.
Skills of the CEW
Professionals at the CEW have a wide range of expertise
including work in adult education, curriculum development,
adult literacy, workplace learning, research in adult
learning, prior learning assessment, and development of
competency-based systems.
CEW staff are trained and certified in facilitating DACUM
and conducting Essential Skill Profiles.
